When Aretha Franklin announced that she was engaged to marry her longtime love Willie Wilkerson, people had just one question: Who’s going to sing at the Queen of Soul’s wedding?

Not just anybody can sing for Aretha Franklin, which may be why you haven’t seen her paid tribute by BET. (Gladys deserved better than Tamar Braxton; just sayin’.) Anyone who sings for Franklin better bring it because we could just imagine her having someone not up to par hooked off the stage like it was “Showtime At the Apollo,” even at her wedding.

While this is a gig that would make anyone nervous – because who would dare drop a note at the Queen’s wedding? – we thought we’d suggest a few singers we believe could make Franklin’s wedding special. Franklin herself has already said that her top choices would be Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder and Karen Clark – all good choices, of course. But if the Queen permits – and let’s face it, folks: You can only suggest when it comes to a legend like Aretha Franklin – we have a few ideas.

Maybe she should just have an all-star pre-wedding jam session, as Franklin and love are certainly worthy of that kind of celebrating. Or maybe these stars should get together and create a wedding CD for Ms. Aretha. If they do, here are our top choices.
