Jennifer Lopez loses her usual mane of flowing locks and gets tough in a new androgynous photo shoot for V Magazine. On the cover, she rocks an almost-vulgar men’s boxing jockstrap, some wet and very slicked-back hair along with some itsy bitsy white tanks to evoke the theme of “tough Bronx girl” she’s discretely carried with her throughout her career.

The accompanying story focuses on J.Lo’s last few “comeback” years during which a shot at judging American Idol has helped the public get reacquainted with the real Jenny From the Block. And a successful single, “On The Floor,” reaffirmed her place in entertainment with the high-energy and sexual American Music Awards performance she did at last year’s show. Now, she’s focusing on her continuing her business relationship with her former husband Marc Anthony as they kick off a reality-show singing contest called Q’Viva: The Chosen. The show, which was picked up by Fox, follows the two as they visit multiple Spanish-speaking countries to explore Latin culture for TV while searching for the next big Latino entertainer.

Meanwhile, although  J.Lo looks good in boxing garb, she says it won’t be all fun and games if you decide to try her in the ring:

“I know how to fight!” “I can take a lot of punches and still keep going,” she says. “I’ve been trained like a boxer to go 15 rounds.”
