STOPS THE MUSIC,
TO TAKE A STANCE AGAINGST VIOLENCE
IN 2-HOUR COMMERCIAL FREE TOWN HALL MEETING
CLEVELAND, OH- Z107.9 FM Cleveland’s Hip Hop and R&B station stops the music and commercials Monday, March 5, 2012 from 6:00pm- 8:00pm for a Town Hall Meeting to address the issues of violence in our community including the Chardon High shooting and the recent weekend in February where an unprecedented 8 homicides occurred. Z 1079 On Air Personalities Colby Colb and Latin Assassin will moderate the discussion. Joining them will be world renowned Psychologist from the Oprah Winfrey show, Dr. Robin Smith, Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson, recording artists Common, Cleveland rapper MGK and many more artists to be announced.
In addition to the Town Hall Meeting, Z 1079 and 93.1 WZAK will be launching an on air Anti-Violence Campaign called “Think Before You Act”, which will consist of a series of on air announcements highlighting non-violent reactions to conflict and disagreements.
“Cleveland is in mourning and many of our young people are struggling with how to deal with anger and rage. This town hall meeting and on air campaign is a step in the right direction. It is in moments like this that shows how impactful RADIO still is and how our community depends on us to be an outlet in moments of crisis”, says Operations Manager Colby Colb.
There will be (2) Satellite Studios on the East and West side of town with our partner Villa, where our listeners can gather to hear the discussion and engage in dialogue.
