CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –
Trayvon Martin supporters are being asked to gather at 4 p.m today outside Tower City in downtown Cleveland.
Martin, 17, was shot and killed, in Sanford, FL late last month.
According to police George Zimmerman, 28, a self-appointed neighborhood watch captain, shot Martin in self-defense.
Martin did not have any weapons on him. He was coming from the store where he had just purchased a pack of Skittles and a bottle of iced tea.
Zimmerman tells police he killed Martin in self defense. Taking him at his word, police do not arrest him, nor administer a drug or alcohol test. They also did not run a background check.
So far Zimmerman has not been charged or arrested.
