So I have noticed that some women ask: “What do men really want?” or “Why do men do this, that, and the third?” and often these questions are answered by other women. No disrespect to you ladies but no one knows what men are thinking but men. If you think you know, you are sadly mistaken… sorry.
I want to use this blog as a guide into the mind of a young, single, black man. Not just on issues of the heart but on a variety of topics. Now although my name is Mathew, my word is not the gospel. Use my thoughts as a way to see into a man’s head. With that being said, let’s get started!
What I Look For In A Woman
Okay here it is, what do men look for in a woman? The long debated controversial question. Granted you may be thinking, “all men are different” , this is true but we all look for the same general qualities in the woman we ultimately want to settle down with. I can break these things down into 3 basic categories:
Mind
Generally men want a woman who can hold a decent conversation with them and the people who that man may associate with. If I am embarrassed to take you around my friends because of something you may say, then you wont be my lady. No you don’t have to be a graduate of Harvard, or any college for that matter, but you gotta know more about whats going on in the world other than what happened on the latest episode of Basketball Wives. If I could build the ideal woman she would have the mind of:
Rosario Dawson
This woman is socially aware and involved in so many different organizations that help those in need. Just listen to her talk for five minutes and you can see why she has the ideal mindset for a brotha like me.
Appearance
Now this is may not be what you think. Appearance doesn’t mean you have to be a dime. All it means is that we men like a woman who looks like she took the time to look her best. Most men don’t expect you to look your best all the time, but when you are out we want you to look like you put lotion on your feet before you put on those heels. Here’s a bonus tip for you ladies: Invest in yourself now so that if/when you get with a real man he will invest in you. If I could build the ideal woman, she would keep herself up like:
Stacey Dash
Stacey is 46 years old….. That’s right 46! And she looks 26. Granted she’s rich and has access to things that an everyday woman wont, but the concept is still the same. Stacey obviously has taken great care of herself throughout the years so that she can continue to look as fine as she does. You can too!
Class
Something so simple seems to be so hard to find these days…. at least for me. I don’t know who told my generation (30 & under) of women that acting ratchet in public was cool but, it seems that this is the new norm. Every woman has heard the saying: “Men want a lady in the streets and a freak in the sheets”. Treat this as your golden rule. If you are at the club tossing drinks in other women’s faces, getting drunk to the point where you can’t stand, or bragging about a $5,000 bag you bought (even though you make $20,000 a year), chances are that I’m not bringing you home to meet my mother.
Wanting more for yourself is very classy. Have goals and work hard to achieve them. There is nothing sexier than a woman who has her own. If I could build the ideal woman, she would be classy like:
Taraji P. Henson
Don’t let her role in Baby Boy fool you, Taraji is the epitome of class. Whenever she walks into a room she commands it just by being there. She doesn’t have to be loud or over the top for you to know that she needs to be the center of attention. She has what a lot of women want….. a Presence.
