CLEVELAND – A woman and a toddler are dead following a crash and stabbing that happened on the same Cleveland street.

The strange and complicated incident happened in the 3000 block of East 125th Street at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

Cleveland Police Sgt. Sammy Morris said a two-year-old girl was hit by a car. She was taken by EMS to Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, where she died from her injuries. A 29-year-old woman was stabbed in the neck, according to Morris. She died at MetroHealth Medical Center.

Nicki Randall lives in the area and said she picked the girl up after she was hit by the car. Randall thinks the girl died in her arms.

“I think she did ‘cause I saw her eye move, that’s what made me pick her up like she’s still breathing, like she was,” said Randall. “But when I got out and put her in the fire truck she went limp as soon as he reached for her.”

Cleveland Police said one woman is in custody. No charges have been filed.

When NewsChannel5 first spoke to EMS dispatch, we were told three people were taken to area hospitals.
