Next year will mark a pivotal year for Chaka Khan. Not only is the ten-time Grammy Award-winner celebrating her 60th birthday on March 23, she is also commemorating the 40th anniversary of her illustrious music career.

Today the “I’m Every Woman” singer announced that she will honor the feat with a year-long celebration including the release of her as-yet-untitled album and international tour.

“I am honored and blessed to celebrate 40 years in music and entertainment” she said in a press release. “I am so humbled by the love, support and gracious spirit of my fans worldwide and the continuous support my peers have shown over the years.”

“Throughout my 40-year career, I have been through the fire a few times over and I’m still here as a living testament to God’s love and grace. Next year, I will be celebrating 40 years in the business and 60 years on earth, which equals one hundred percent Chaka.”

Since undergoing a recent weight loss earlier this year, the funk/R&B powerhouse admitted to the Huffington Post that more business opportunities have surfaced.

“A lot of doors have opened significantly for me since I dropped the weight,” she revealed during the June interview. “And I have mixed reactions to that, but I’m going to strike the iron while it’s hot. So there’s been lots of meetings with lots of people.”

“I’m coming out with a perfume line called, Khanasutra, a line of candles, and Chaka Lips for the holidays.”
