On land, by sea and in the air, they are all coming to Cleveland starting Monday Aug. 27 through Labor Day weekend.

The U.S. Navy is commemorating the bicentennial of the War of 1812 with Navy Week in Cleveland.

Battle of Lake Erie Bicentennial

The War of 1812 was the first declared war in the history of the United States of America, and it established the U. S Navy as a force to be reckoned with.

Navy Week in Cleveland will feature the frigate USS De Wert, the patrol ship USS Hurricane, four U. S. Coast Guard ice cutters, three Canadian ships, and the flagship Brig Niagara, a replica of the ship used by Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry to defeat the British navy during the battle of Lake Erie at Put-in-Bay in 1813.

They will be docked in the Port of Cleveland, located just north of Cleveland Browns Stadium at 100 Alfred Lerner Way. All ship tours are free and open to the public.

All of the Navy Week events (except the Cleveland National Air Show and the Cleveland Indians games) are free and open to the public. Check with the Greater Cleveland Aquarium for their policy during Navy Week.
