The Democratic National Convention has officially started! Last night the Convention made a grand entrance in Charlotte by hosting a star-studded media party to give local, regional and national media representatives a taste of what to expect this week.  The event, which was held at the North Carolina Music Factory, featured food, drinks and lots of music, including a performance by Charlotte’s own Anthony Hamilton.

“The energy [at the event] was very hype,” said Alexis Mitchell of Charlotte’s WBTV. “People still came out even though the weather was not the best.  It was an awesome turnout. Both the Fillmore and Wet Willie’s were packed with people dancing … and Ant [Anthony Hamilton] draws a crowd. It was an awesome event.”

The media party was just a taste of the talent, which includes Ledisi, Earth Wind and Fire and Mary J. Blige, that will be in Charlotte this week to celebrate.
