Only minutes after being declared the projected winner of the 2012 election, President Barack Obama made history again – this time on Twitter.

The social networking site has reported that a tweet from the president’s account, showing him embracing Michelle, and accompanied with the caption “four more years,” is now the most retweeted message in the history of the site.

At the time of this post, the tweet has received over 360,000 retweets. Obama beat out teenage pop star Justin Bieber who received over 200,000 retweets in September.

The same photo on Obama’s Facebook page has over 1.2 million likes.

After his victory was announced, the President also tweeted, “This happened because of you. Thank you.” and “We’re all in this together. That’s how we campaigned, and that’s who we are. Thank you.”

Earlier tonight, Twitter announced that Election Day is the most tweeted about event in U.S. political history.
