Shad “Bow Wow” Moss is now in his early 20’s, his heyday as a teenage rap prodigy behind him. Despite a few bumpy moments a while back, when he admitted he’d considered suicide, Moss is now enjoying a creative renaissance. He’s one of the four new hosts of “106 and Park,” a show he once was one of the reigning stars of, he’s the father of a baby girl, and he’s in a new movie called “Allegiance.”

The film, based on director Mike Connors’ own experiences in the military focuses on Lt. Danny Shefton, whose own loyalties are torn when he gets involved in a desertion attempt by a member (Moss) of his unit. Things are complicated further for Shefton because of his request for a transfer that would allow him to remain at home while the rest of his unit deploys to Afghanistan is unexpected granted.

“Allegiance” was written, directed, produced and financed almost completely by former members of the military and they were also involved with training the actors to play soldiers. “Allegiance” opens in New York on December 28, 2012 and in Los Angeles on January 4, 2012 but is currently available via Video On Demand.

Moviegoers in the New York City area can meet the film’s cast, including Moss,Reshma Shetty (USA’s “Royal Pains”) and Pablo Schreiber (Season 2 of “The Wire) at the “Apple Store SoHo: Meet the Actors” event this Thursday, December 13 at 7 p.m. E! News personality Alicia Quarles will moderate the discussion.
