CLEVELAND – “Good Morning America” co-anchor Robin Roberts is set to return to the show.
Roberts, who is recovering from a bone marrow transplant, announced Monday that she will be back in the anchor chair sometime in February.
“The last bone marrow test showed no abnormalities,” Roberts said.
Next week, Roberts will go to the GMA studio and do dry runs but not be on air. She said her doctors need to assess how she handles being back in that environment.
Roberts did not peg an exact date for her return but said she has a “very personal and very important” one in mind. Ultimately, though, Roberts said she will listen to when her doctors give her the green light.
“GMA viewers, your messages, your well wishes, your prayers have given me an enormous amount of strength and hope,” Roberts said.
In June, Roberts shared with viewers her diagnosis of MDS, or myelodysplastic syndrome, a rare disease of the blood and bone marrow.
The 52-year-old went on leave from the show in August and lost her mother Lucimarian hours later.
Earlier this month, Roberts celebrated a major milestone, reaching the 100-day mark since her transplant.
