FAIRBORN, Ohio – Police say a man has been arrested after allegedly ripping off a portion of his 1-month-old son’s scalp in an argument with the child’s mother in southwest Ohio.
Fairborn police say 34-year-old Kodi Weatherspoon was in jail on charges of felonious assault and endangering children. Police Sgt. Paul Hicks says Weatherspoon called 911 Wednesday afternoon to report the child was injured.
Hicks says Weatherspoon allegedly punched his wife while she was holding their baby and apparently pulled part of the baby’s scalp off while grabbing for his wife’s hair.
The child was taken to Children’s Medical Center of Dayton where Hicks said doctors hoped to reattach the scalp. The hospital said the baby was discharged but no other information was available.
Court records didn’t list an attorney for Weatherspoon.
