CLEVELAND – Police are investigating a deadly shooting Sunday night where an off-duty Cleveland fire lieutenant was gunned down on Cleveland’s east side.

Officers found William Walker, 45, with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest around 8:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of Lampson Road.

Police said the victim had parked his vehicle in his driveway and begun walking to his house when he was shot.

Paramedics transported the victim to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

City of Cleveland officials said the victim was a 15 year veteran of the City of Cleveland Division of Fire.

The shooter is still at large.
