Keke Palmer and Sherri Shepherd made history this week as the first black women to be cast as Cinderella and her Evil Stepmother in Rogers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella on Broadway.

Keke shed some tears after the show’s premiere on Tuesday night, proving that the accomplishment was as important to her as it was for the world of theater.

She also invited PretaReporter cameras backstage before the show to get some behind the scenes snapshots of her wardrobe fittings.

“This is me in my own head: OMG girl, you look so beautiful! What are you going to do when you get out there. This is a dream come true girl. Girl, just enjoy it. Just trying to live in the moment. It’s a moment I’ll never forget,” she said.

“Young black girls that think that certain things aren’t possible, it’s good for them to just be able to see someone that looks like them and lets them know it’s possible, but it also lets them know that just because you have never seen it, doesn’t mean that you can’t be it.”
