President Obama still hasn’t visited Ferguson, Missouri, but he has decided to take some action after a tumultuous week of protesting the non-indictment of Darren Wilson.

This week, President Obama is meeting with his Cabinet, civil rights leaders and law enforcement officials to discuss the continuous protests occurring in Ferguson and across the country. According to the White House, the President plans on meeting with young leaders to discuss the distrust between people of color and law enforcement. This meeting will also review the federal program that funds military-style equipment to local law enforcement.

The President spoke immediately after the presentation by Prosecutor McCulloch last Monday, but many were left feeling underwhelmed with his measured and non-emotional comments.

We’re hoping the President is sure to invite the young people who have been on the ground in Ferguson since the shooting of Michael Brown on August 9th. Those demonstrators have organized, protested and exposed the truth about the conditions in Ferguson when the mainstream media had all but ignored them. We’re hopeful that this meeting will yield some changes in the Black community.
