NORTH CANTON, Ohio – North Canton School District is on alert after a shooting threat against the middle school was posted to social media.

Officials say the administration was made aware Wednesday of the message that someone was going to shoot up North Canton Middle School on Thursday.

The police department is trying to figure out the identity of the person that posted the threat but they say the person posted using an international proxy, which lets you search the internet at post anonymously.

They have asked for assistance from the Ohio Department of Public Safety Homeland Security and the FBI in investigating the threat.

Administrators say the North Canton Police Department will have police officers stationed and/or on patrol at all North Canton City schools Thursday.
