A 10-year-old is dead after a suspected drive-by shooting in Miami, WPLG – Miami reports.

The shooting happened Tuesday evening on the 1900 block of Northwest Fourth Court. With a steady flow of gun violence in the area, police believe the boy was shot in the head during a drive-by. It is unknown if the child was killed in front of his home. A man who identified himself as a cousin stood by his side when police arrived on the scene.

After finding the child in the walkway of a house with a bullet wound to his head, he was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Over the past week, the area has become a hot-bed for crime. Just a few blocks away, another 10-year-old was shot, and another was grazed by a bullet the same day. Two 16-year-olds were also caught in gunfire on the 2000 block of Northwest 18th Terrace. One of them later died from their injures.

In a report released by Neighborhood Scout last year, Florida took over the list of the top 100 most dangerous cities. A total of 11 cities were on the list from the Sunshine State, including Orlando, Daytona Beach, and Miami.
