Ex-NBA star Jayson Williams‘ anticipated guilty plea in a fatal 2002 shooting was delayed indefinitely after he didn’t show up for court on Friday morning. 

No explanation was given for his absence which postponed the final step in the nearly 8-year-old legal proceedings against the former St. John’s and New Jersey Nets center.

The plea bargain deal carried a three-year jail term, although Williams would become eligible for parole in the shooting after just 18 months.
