The South Amherst Fire Chief confirmed to newsnet5.com the suspect who took two firefighters hostage at gunpoint is 53-year-old Roy Griffith Jr.
According to fire officials, eight firefighters responded to Griffith’s home after complaints about open burning of leaves.
When they arrived, officials said Griffith pulled a long rifle on firefighters and held the firefighters hostage. He then took one of the firemen into the woods less than a half a mile south of the Ohio Turnpike.
