(RNN) – Congress and the White House are on lockdown after a report of a shooting near Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.
The shooting was reported at the Capitol Visitors Center. The Associated Press is reporting the incident was contained to the visitor center and that a shooter is in custody.
The Capitol Police issued an order for people in the building to shelter in place due to a “potential security threat.” Congress is currently in recess.
The White House is on lockdown due to a separate event. A man reportedly tried to jump the fence outside the White House.
