One Dead, Four Wounded At Shooting At Chicago Park

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) –

Police have a suspect in custody in the murder of 15-year-old Sunny Ravi Patel at Mr. Hero on Friday night. Daveion Perry, 20, was arrested Monday and charged with one count of aggravated murder, two counts of aggravated robbery, two counts of kidnapping and two counts of felonious assault.

Sunny, a sophomore at Mayfield High School, was working at his family’s restaurant in Cleveland Heights when a man walked in and shot him in the neck, fatally wounding him. The shooter then took money from the register and fled.

Around 9 p.m. on Sunday, officers saw a male entering the Dollar General at Lee and East Overlook who matched the description of the suspect. After he exited the store, officers approached the suspect. He fled on East Overlook before being found and taken into custody.

Detectives will continue to investigate.

Patel’s family says that he was planning on watching the Indians game with friends Friday night, but instead chose to work and help out his family. His father said that, even at a young age, his son made his family and working hard top priorities.
