The Rev. Jesse Jackson will be in Toledo on Tuesday to address ongoing civil rights complaints at the GM Powertrain plant.

Nine workers sued GM last April, accusing the company of allowing racial harassment the last several years. In 2017, five nooses were found in the plant.

An attorney for the workers said the harassment has continued and has gotten worse, with one worker recently finding a monkey doll and a racist drawing near his work station.

The Ohio Civil Rights Commission agreed last year that there is a problem and that the company has not done enough to make things better, something that the company continues to dispute.

Reverend Jackson will meet with workers at noon and will then hold a news conference at 1 p.m. at The Truth Gallery, 1811 Adams Street.

In attendance will be Ray Wood, longtime GM employee and former president of the UAW unit and current president of the local NAACP, local pastors, and city councilman Larry Sykes, who wrote a letter to Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz, asking him to speak to company leaders and ask for an immediate resolution
