It’s always a pleasure to report when our beloved city gets national (or international) accolades.

According to the website LoveExploring.com, Cleveland is ranked No. 48 in its list of the 50 of the world’s most beautiful cities.

In ranking the CLE in the top 50, the site writes:

“You might expect the home of rock ‘n’ roll to be all dive bars and cheap hotels with thoroughly smashed TVs, but Cleveland is instead a charming city which makes the most of its gorgeous spot on Lake Erie. The waterfront is one of the most picturesque parts of Cleveland – and home to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – but the city is full of well-maintained historic buildings, perhaps the most impressive being The Arcade, an ornate, glass-roofed 1890s shopping street in the Downtown Area.”

The top 10 cities on the list were:

  1. Venice, Italy
  2. Lübeck, Germany
  3. Charleston, South Carolina
  4. Barcelona, Spain
  5. Cartagena, Colombia
  6. Florence, Italy
  7. St. Petersburg, Russia
  8. Cambridge, England
  9. St John’s, Canada
  10. Havana, Cuba

Here were the U.S. cities that cracked the Top 50:

  • No. 3–Charleston, South Carolina
  • No. 11–Portland, Maine
  • No. 15–St. Augustine, Florida
  • No. 29–Ketchikan, Alaska
  • No. 31–Santa Barbara, California
  • No. 41–New Orleans, Louisiana
  • No. 48–Cleveland
