Cleveland celebrates Martin Luther King! Check out these awesome places to visit free of charge in Honor of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Cleveland Orchestra Free Concert – January 18, 7pm; Severance Hall, University Circle; admission is free, but tickets are required; visit the Orchestra’s Web site for information.

Cleveland Botanical Garden – free admission; 10am – 5pm

Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Program -January 18th 1pm. The Cleveland Public Library presents the 25th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Program on Monday, January 18, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at the Martin Luther King, Jr., Branch at 1962 Stokes Boulevard in Cleveland.Themed “A Legacy of Leadership,” the panel discussion will be moderated by State Senator Nina Turner who will engage local leaders to reflect on Dr. King’s impact on today’s society. The panel will include Councilman Jeff Johnson; pastor and founder of The Word Church, Pastor R.A. Vernon; Executive Director for Metropolitan Cleveland Consortium for STEM, Sonya Pryor-Jones; Chairman of International Relations for the Young Democrats of America, Thione Naing; and other community leaders.

House of Blues – Voices Ring Out, a free multi-cultural celebration with dance, art, and music; 1pm; free

Cleveland Children’s Museum – Half price admission ($3), kids can make multi-colored peace bracelets.

Cleveland Museum of Natural History – free admission; 10am – 5pm

Great Lakes Science Center – free admission; 930am – 530pm

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – Community Festival Series: A tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, JR. Monday Jan. 18th with performances beginning at 12noon. free admission for Cleveland residents; 10am – 530pm. Spirited performances by The Mighty Clouds of Joy. The festival will also feature appearances by the Green Sisters and the Adult Ensemble from the Antioch Baptist Church. For more details call 216-781-7625.

Mt. Zion Congregational Church “A Day of Service, Not a Day Off

Black Is, Black Aint – Lakeland Community College Fine Arts Gallery presents this art exhibition; an engaging process of experiences and historical perceptions captured through visual interpretations focusing on the meanings of what “Black” “Black Enough” and “Too Black” in today’s society, with guest Curators and Visual Artists- Monday, January 18th, 6pm in the Performing Arts Center Auditorium with Keynote Speaker and Artist Reception.
