According to reports, Wyclef Jean has confirmed that he will run for president of Haiti in this year’s election. Wyclef was rumored to be running for office earlier this week, but sources close to him claim that he will be making his official announcement on August 5.

The Haitian election will take place on November 28, and it is predicted that ‘Clef will win voting by a landslide, due to his wild popularity and influence in his home country.

“I think if Wyclef is allowed to run he will have a straight victory,” former presidential candidate Himmler Rebu told Reuters.

Wyclef also has support from his uncle, Raymond Alcide Joseph, who has been Haiti’s ambassador to the U.S. since 2005, and worked with his nephew to raise funds for victims of the earthquake.
