CLEVELAND – A shooting at an event venue in Cleveland started with a fight inside Sunday afternoon.

The shooting happened at Red Space near East 24th Street and Superior Avenue.

Red Space is part of Hotcards, an online printing and design company.

According to social media postings, a large crowd was at a ‘Back in Black Day Party’ which was put on by Living and Loving Life Ent.

The event invite shows the party was from 4 to 9 p.m.

Two uniformed off-duty Cleveland police officers were working security at the event.

According to Cleveland police, several men were escorted out of the building after an altercation inside.

When the officers were going back inside, they heard several shots and a car speeding down the street.

“I was on the inside a little altercation broke out, broke it up, it happened again so we ended up pushing him outside,” said Levar Fletcher, who was working security at the party. “No more than five minutes later, we see the whole bar running towards the exit and party was over.”

Police say a man inside a white vehicle fired several shots toward the officers and security guards. One of the shots went through a window at the venue.

One of the off-duty officers returned fire.
