OMG! This story is getting more bizarre as the day passes! Just hours after announcing she’d filed for divorce from megachurch pastor Bishop Eddie Long, his wife, Vanessa, issued a statement saying she had withdrawn her petition! WTH!
We toldya she sent out this statement Friday morning announcing she was leaving Long….
“After a great deal of deliberation and prayer, I have decided to terminate my marriage to Bishop Eddie L. Long. Accordingly, I authorized my attorneys to file for divorce on December 1, 2011.
It is my sincere hope that this matter can be resolved expeditiously, harmoniously, and fairly. I ask that you respect my privacy and that of my family, as my attorneys and I have agreed that we will not try this case in the media, and I do not intend to make any further statements concerning this matter.
I also ask that the public pray for my entire family during this difficult period of transition. Thank you, and may God continue to bless and keep each of you.”
Apparently something went down and she had a change of heart! Sources close to Mrs. Long say she caved under the pressure! They say she couldn’t handle the media circus that jumped off after she announced she was leaving the Bishop so she decided to withdraw her petition for divorce. SMDH!
But this hasn’t stopped NEW details from leaking about the split. Peeps close to Mrs. Long say she wanted to leave the marriage months ago when the sex scandal broke but Long allegedly begged her to wait it out.
The source also says Mrs. Long finally made the decision to file for divorce after several counseling sessions with her husband. During one session in particular Long refused to admit he’d done anything inappropriate with his sex scandal accusers but he allegedly admitted he did some things he was ashamed of…hmmm!
Several months ago BMS reported Mrs. Long had moved out of their mansion in Atlanta but Long denied the claims.
You may remember all of this drama kicked off when four young men, all former members of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, filed suit accusing the bishop of lavishing money, trips and gifts on them, while having sexual contact with them.
The case was finally settled in secret back in May. Sources say an undisclosed amount of money was paid to the young men. Bishop Long, in court papers, denied the allegations and later issued a statement saying it was time to move forward.
Long, who’s the leader of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Ga. married Vanessa back in 1990 and they have three children together Edward, Jared and Taylor.
