When we read about the recent study that found insecure people are more desirable and better at dating, our first thought was, No way in hell. As Cosmo editors, we interview tons of relationship experts, authors, and real guys, and never once has anyone told us that insecurity is attractive to men. In fact, we know that the exact opposite is true: We hear all the time that one of the hottest traits in a woman is confidence.

Basically, the researchers behind this study thought that people who aren’t confident try harder to seem interesting. And secure daters often come off as arrogant. We totally agree that arrogance can be a major turn-off, but perhaps those who conducted the study forgot that there are plenty of secure, self-assured, self-confident women who aren’t arrogant.

And uh, are we the only ones who think it’s way better to actually be interesting rather than to just “appear interesting”?
