Marjorie Harvey: Speaking Out Against Steve Harvey’s Ex-Wife, Mary

By Bridget Bland on Jan 25th 2011 11:39AM

Steve Harvey took to his ‘Steve Harvey Morning Show’ on Jan.24 to give some straight talk regarding his ex-wife, Mary Shackelford‘s startling YouTube allegations that the ‘King of Comedy’ was a serial cheater who left her for his current wife, Marjorie. Since their 2005 divorce, Shackelford says she now has nothing, as Harvey also has full custody of their 15-year-old son, Wynton.

Now, the New York Times Best-Selling author’s better half, Marjorie, has retained an attorney to fight the allegations that she was the other woman, something that she says has left her both “shocked and dismayed.”

“As a wife and a mother, I cannot stand back and allow the defamation of my character or actions that will malign my family,” the philanthropist said in a statement released through her attorney C. Anthony Mulrain. “So, I will do what I need to do to the greatest extent of the law.”

Shackelford said she found emails and text messages between her ‘Family Feud’ talk show host ex-husband and Marjorie and that after she expressed a desire to get a divorce, he left and fled to New York to be with Marjorie.

“The part that’s hurtful in this is my wife and children had to be drugged [sic] into this,” a frustrated Harvey said on-air. “If you’re going to be vindictive go ahead and aim it at me, but my son is coming in the room crying and that’s also her son, so why would you do this?”

Marjorie, who called the three viral videos “malicious and baseless,” continued, “The posting is nothing more than a sad attempt by Mary to make herself relevant in the eyes of the media. Now that the publicity splash is over, Mrs. Harvey looks forward to making her case in court.”

As previously reported, Shackleford says Harvey is currently suing her in Texas, which is why she is now speaking up. The Harveys have been urged to not personally respond to allegations as not to be held in contempt of the court’s gag orders.
