Hundreds of guests danced the night away at Tyler Perry’s 1st annual “Rise Above Celebration” at Boulevard3 in Hollywood. It was a big night for Tyler Perry, who had just come from the NAACP Image Awards at the Shrine Auditorium. His film “For Colored Girls” won awards for “Best Film” and “Best Supporting Actress.”Perry also won “Best Comedy Series” for “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne.” Guests included radio personality (and Oprah’s BFF) Gayle King, singer Gladys Knight, actor Forest Whitaker, and athlete Barry Bonds. Mary J. Blige performed for the crowd.
