You’d better start putting some cash underneath your mattress! Getting cash from ATM’s that are NOT your bank is about to cost you a gazillion dollars! Banks across the country are hiking ATM fees. Chase, for example, is now charging non-customers $5 to use their ATMs in an Illinois pilot program—and that’s on top of any fee the users’ own banks are demanding. WTF!
Why the rising costs? Banks say it’s to make up for the cost of last year’s Wall Street reform, including restrictions on debit card fees. With the debit card rule due to take effect April 21 some say this is a way to stick the middle finger up at politicians for imposing the new rules.
