First Lady Michelle Obama arrived at Spelman College’s 124th commencement to roaring cheers. The 550 graduates and their families were moved and inspired by her words of encouragement, female empowerment and always giving back to others.
“Find those folks who have so much potential but so little opportunity and do for them what Spelman has done for you.”
In closing, The First Lady quoted a 1971 Spelman graduate, author Tina McElroy Ansa. In her, Ansa wrote in The Hand I Fan With, “Claim what is yours…You belong anywhere on this earth you want to.”
