AKRON, OH (WOIO) –

Akron Police say charges are pending for a mother who left her toddler in the middle of the road because she was stressed.

After dropping off the tot, the mom was involved in a three car accident with serious injuries.

Akron Police tell 19 Action News that Tuesday at 11:37 a.m., a woman who claimed to be stressed out about the death of her father took her 3-year-old son out of her car and left him in the roadway in the 500 block of W. Waterloo Road then drove off.

A witness saw the drop off and called 9-1-1.

After dropping off her son, the mom was involved in a three car crash. All three drivers including the mom were transported to a local hospital with injuries. One of the drivers sustained serious but non life-threatening injuries.

Police responded to the area where the toddler was dropped off and located him. He was placed in the custody of Summit County Children’s Serviced along with his mother’s two other children who were with a relative at the time of the incident.
