AKRON, OH (WOIO) –

An urgent alert from police about a local creep.

He’s approaching kids and asking a lot of questions and cops are afraid it won’t be long before he grabs a child!

Residents say he is using the typical line “I lost my dog” and parents are now  on the lookout for a pervert.

At Schneider Park parents would drop off their kids to practice but not anymore.

“Normally they would group up and ride to practice walk to practice and that has changed, they won’t be doing that.”

Because of a letter being emailed from schools to parents explaining a man in a maroon car was trying to lure kids. He’s been spotted near Dorchester and Afton and by the park.

The man would wait until the kids are alone walking home from school or football practice and ask them have you seen my beige dog.

Donnie Swain saw him here on Tuesday.

“He just circled the block about two or three times and after the second time I noticed him and he had something fishy about him,” said Donnie Swain.

Folks have been using this incident as a learning opportunity for their kids.

“Just keep walking don’t ever stop your feet. Make sure your feet are always moving.”

Cops have increased patrols and whether you’re in Akron, Cleveland, or anywhere in northeast Ohio, police have this advice: Talk to your kids about stranger danger- report any incident and if it happens run and fast.
