A van used by the Abundant Life Harvest Church in Canton to deliver food throughout the community was stolen Friday morning.

The theft was caught on a surveillance video by a house across the street from the church on Gibbs Ave. NE. Someone drove away with the 1994 Chevy Lumina around 4 a.m.

“We depend on that to transport food to people and to get them to church,” said Rev. Mark Knight.

The church uses the van to deliver food to hundreds in Canton twice a week. They say they now have to rely on just one van.

“People call me and say they have nothing left to get them to the end of the month. I don’t know what we are going to do now,” Knight Said.

This isn’t the first time the church was hit by thieves. Five years ago Abundant Life had another van stolen.

Pastor Knight says he hopes whoever stole the van realizes they don’t have to steal, that the church would help them out.

The church says they will continue bi-weekly deliveries, but they say they’ll have to work twice as hard to make sure those in need get help they depend on. The church is seeking volunteers to help with deliveries and transporting people to church. To help call 330-456-0009.
