Three Amish men accused of cutting off the beards and hair of Amish men and women, went before a Jefferson County Court Judge Tuesday.

Levi Miller, 53; Johnny Mullet, 38; and Lester Mullet, 26, all waived extradition to Holmes County. They are charged with kidnapping and aggravated burglary. Miller, Mullet and Mullet -are all part of the “Bergholz Clan”.

The three men are being held at the Jefferson County Justice Facility, in a segregated area, on $250,000 cash bond each.

Attacks against Amish have been reported in Holmes, Trumbull and Carroll Counties.  Jefferson County Ohio Sheriff Fred Abdalla believes Amish Bishop Sam Mullet ordered  the violent hair cuts. And, the attacks are meant to humiliate and punish the people Mullet does not believe are faithful enough.

Johnny Mullet and Lester Mullet are the Bishop’s sons. They were taken into custody Friday at their father’s house.

Sheriff Abdalla confirmed that one Amish member of the Bergholz community was allegedly locked into a chicken coop as punishment for disagreeing with Amish Bishop Sam Mullet.

Sheriff Abdalla says as many as 12 more Amish men could be arrested.
