AKRON, Ohio – A multi-agency investigation is under way after a body was found in Akron Friday morning, and the FBI said it may be linked to the craigslist job ad case.

The Cleveland office of the FBI said investigators are awaiting the identification of the person found by the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Vicky Anderson, spokeswoman for the Cleveland FBI, said the body of a man was found in a shallow grave behind Rolling Acres Mall at about 8:30 a.m., and police received a tip to go looking there.

Anderson said more information is expected to be released Friday afternoon after the man is identified.

The FBI told the Associated Press that it is working under the supposition that the body may be that of a missing man from Massillon who answered a craigslist job ad.

Timothy Kern, 47, hasn’t been seen in more than a week.

“Do we think it might be? Maybe,” Anderson told the AP. “He’s missing. We haven’t been able to find him. It could possibly be, but we just don’t know that yet.”

Investigators said they believe the ad for a farm hand job in Noble County was used to lure people into a robbery. One man who answered the ad was found dead, and another man escaped after being shot.

Police arrested two men in Summit County in connection with the crimes, including a 16-year-old from Stow.

The FBI said it’s working with Ohio’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification and Akron police on the case.
