Now that Dr. Conrad Murray has received his four-year jail sentence in his involuntary manslaughter conviction for the death of Michael Jackson, fans can now return their focus on Jackson’s legacy instead of his untimely death.

Many can say they knew Jackson, but very few can say they’ve known him since they were four years old. Jackson’s former assistant and manager Frank Cascio is one of those people. He’s written a book, “My Friend Michael: An Ordinary Friendship with an Extraordinary Man,” and is sharing the details of their 25-year friendship. How Cascio gained inside access to Jackson, who he met as a child at a luxury hotel where his father was the concierge, is a very compelling story unto itself. At 18, Cascio became Jackson’s assistant and ultimately managed the star for a period of time. Cascio’s entire family grew close to Jackson, spending holidays with him and going on tour with him.

Cascio and his brother slept over at Neverland Ranch many times, but Cascio says nothing untoward ever happened, though he “completely understands how people might think that’s strange or weird or inappropriate,” Cascio told The Huffington Post.
