Resolutions for Any Woman for 2012!

Who doesnt try the whole “New Years Resolution” deal every year? By the second week of January, the majority of those resolutions are broken, right? In fact you’re probably doing the exact opposite of what your goals were, just because you’re so depressed. Here’s my list of resolutions for the New Year.

1) The Usual: Lose Weight.

Who doesnt have this on their yearly list of things to accomplish in the New Year? I recently had a baby, well 9 months ago type of recently. I’ve always been overweight. I’m pretty sure this has been on my list for the last 15+ years. I’ve let myself go. My husband and I joined a gym back in November, and havent gone since. I need to turn that around. I need to make a change, and I need to do something to better myself. And not just for myself, but for my family around me. I want to be around for a long time, to see my daughter grow. In these first two days, this hasnt really gone so well. I guess tomorrow is the big change.

2) Be a more positive, happy person.

This is something I’m hoping is on my husbands list too. He’s a very negative person, and in fact brings me down with his bad mood. I’m hoping to shake that and be my own person, with my own mood, and my own daily positive mantra. I’d like to write down something positive every day. Something I’m happy about. I’ll see how that one goes. I need to start being a happier person for my daughter, my husband, my job, and myself.

3) Keep the house clean and more organized.

I guess all of these in some way revolve around my little girl. But I guess this would go along with #2. When the house is clean, I’m happy. When the house is organized. I’m happy. And I need to continue that pattern throughout the year. I want to take pride in our house. I want to show people I’m a classy person, with classy tastes and style, and I want our house to reflect that. Besides, being dirty is never fun.

4) Quit Dieting: Just Eat Better.

Every year, probably 20+ times a year, I tell myself “I’m going on a diet”. And every year, 20+ times a year, I fail within 2-5 days of that “diet”. I need to stop using that term. I just need to have the mindset that I’m going to eat better, eat healthier. Choose that salad over the fatty soup. Choose grilled chicken instead of fried. Choose home-made meals instead of fast food. QUIT DIETING. I guess this is another one that I’ve failed at so far in these first couple of days, but there’s always a new day tomorrow.

5) Stay Active.

Whether its getting up to get my own glass of water, or going to the gym for a full on cardio work out; I need to stop sitting on the couch, doing nothing all the time. Clean, run around with the baby, walk the dogs more often, anything to keep myself moving. Keep the adrenaline pumping and in return, it will bring up my mood. Besides, the more I move, the more calories burned.

6) Save Money and pay off Bills.

Who doesnt want some extra money saved up?! I guess this isnt so much about saving money, as it is getting rid of some debt. My husband and I both have so many credit cards, we’re never going to be out of debt. I’m sick of paying bills of late. I’m sick of having to wait until the next paycheck to get something paid. Something needs to change. I just hope my husband is willing to change this with me. Meaning no more going out to eat. An average meal for the two of us out at a restaurant costs $30. That could be 3 meals for dinner if I go grocery shopping. He has this bad habit of going to the gas station. I pray to God that stops. $10 a day, 5 days a week, and there’s a water bill payment! Waste of money!

7) Take a “Mommy and Me” class with our daughter.

I’ve always wanted to do a swimming class with her. She’s now 9 months and there’s no reason I can’t do that when it gets warmer out. Not to mention thats good excersize. I just simply want to spend more time with her, being happy with her, teaching her new things, and watch her grow.

8) Work on improving our Marriage.

Whether there’s something wrong or not, there should never be an opportunity missed to improve a marriage. Its been a hell of a ride, but we’re doing pretty good. But we could always be better. “I don’t wanna settle for good, not great.” I want us to communicate better. Be more open and honest with each other. Be happier together. I want our daughter to grow up seeing and knowing that her parents are in love and happy. I want to show her what a marriage is supposed to be. I want us to stop fighting about dumb little things. I want us to have a mutual relationship, where we respect each other, and listen to each other, and do whatever we can to make it easier on us financially. I’m hoping this can happen. I’m hoping he’s on board too.

9) Find a better job!

I lost my job 2 years ago after getting pregnant. I worked at a factory, making fairly good money. Found out I was pregnant and I was gone. Was on unemployment for the longest time, and finally found a job waitressing in my hometown at a new pizza restaurant. 9 hours a week, MAYBE 2 days a week. . NOT enough to live off of. I need to find something more. I need to find something to get me out of this rut. In return, happiness will follow.

10) Have more Sex!

Why would anyone in their right mind think that this one isnt a good idea?! Not only will it make us be happier on our own time, but it will help our relationship. Plus our mood! I don’t ever want us to lose our spark and our love for each other. Besides, everyone wants to get some now and then.
