An elderly woman calls North Olmsted Police, after she believes an envelope with $500 in cash is stolen from her purse. This happened at the Drug Mart at 24485 Lorain Road on January 31st.

The woman told the Officers she came to the store to drop off a prescription, pay a bill and buy some food. She had taken out $40 to pay her bill at the customer service window and continued shopping. When she got to the check-out, she noticed the envelope was gone.

Officers reviewed the stores video cameras, but there were no cameras in the aisles she had been shopping in. Officers thought the money was gone for good.

Several hours later, Police received a call from a Fairview Park woman who told police her husband had been at the Drug Mart earlier that day and accidentally came home with an envelope full of cash. They wanted to track down the owner. Police went to their home and collected the money.

The husband says he was paying his bills at Drug Mart and placed his paperwork on the customer service counter. When he was finished, he gathered up his things, not realizing he had also grabbed the envelope full of money.

Officers were able to return all the money to the elderly woman.
