NORTH OLMSTED, OH (WOIO) –

A man claiming to be a judge’s son busted for shoplifting.

32-year-old Joseph Russo was arrested on February 7th at Marc’s.

Police say Russo was with a small child when he cut open a $99 DVD package, put it with his personal belongings and went to the check out line.

After purchasing other items, Russo tried to leave, but a manager confronted him about the hidden DVD package.

Russo told the manager he needed to take the child to the bathroom. When he came out, employees found the DVD, battery and charger in the toilet tank.

Russo was arrested and charged with theft, possessing criminal tools and child endangering.

Russo then stated his father was a  judge in Cuyahoga County and threatened to sue Marc’s and workers at the store.

He’s due in court on February 21st.
