On the TV Land show, “Happily Divorced,” Fran Drescher (of “The Nanny” fame) stars as an ex-wife forced to live with her fresh-out-of-the closet former husband. In a prime-time example of art imitating life, “Happily Divorced” reflects Drescher’s own true life story. Her husband of 21 years announced he was gay after they divorced. The former high school sweethearts are executive producers on the show.

Arnold plays Drescher’s best friend Judi on “Happily Divorced,” and she says she loves playing the role, although it’s based on a red-haired Jewish woman. “I was so happy when I booked this gig because Fran, of course, is just, she is television,” said Arnold. “And she just knows her stuff, and she’s amazing to work with. And she knows, she’s very smart. Really, really smart. So she and I have bonded.”

In real life, Arnold, who is a single mother to seven-year-old Alijah Kai with music producer Carvin Haggins, is no longer “happily divorced.” She’s getting married in August to St. John’s University assistant basketball coach Rico Hines, who she says is her best friend.
