CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –
The mom who threw her dead 5-year-old’s body in a trash can received three years in prison Thursday for tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.
India Parker showed no emotions in court during her sentencing.
The child’s grandparents and the prosecution wanted a max sentence, which she received, but it was only three years.
According to the prosecutor, mom kept collecting social security for her child after the child’s death.
The judge challenged Parker in court to tell the truth about what happened to the child, giving her time to meet with her attorney and think it over. Parker returned to court around 1PM and said she threw the child’s body in the garbage between Nov. 1, 2006 and Dec. 31st, 2006, but didn’t know how she died. The body was left in the trash and set curbside for pick-up by the City of Cleveland Sanitation workers.
In March 2012, Parker pleaded guilty to one count of tampering with evidence and one count of offenses against a human corpse.
