CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

The lone survivor of a violent family shooting rampage at a Brooklyn Cracker Barrel restaurant has died.

Kayla Allen, 10, has been fighting for her life since the April 12 shooting. She passed Tuesday afternoon. After taking a turn for the worse last week, May 11, her family moved her from MetroHealth Medical Center to Hospice Care at Western Reserve.

Kayla, her sister Kerri, 10, and mother Katherina were dining at the Cracker Barrel with their father Kevin Allen for Kerri’s birthday when their father snapped after hearing his marriage was over.

Kevin left the restaurant and went to his vehicle where he grabbed his gun and returned to the restaurant, opening fire on his two kids and wife.

Kerri and Katherina were pronounced dead on scene. Kayla was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center. Kevin Allen was gunned down by Brooklyn Police.

Kayla’s family released this statement after her death:

The family of Kayla Allen is appreciative and grateful for the support and prayers of so many during this journey. Kayla has died peacefully at home. She has been surrounded by family and friends for the past few days, comfortable and serene. This time has been most meaningful to us as we held her and loved her, prayed for her and said our goodbyes.

We have been heartened by the hopes and outpouring of concern of friends as well as strangers and this has given us comfort during a most difficult time.

Public memorial service information will be forthcoming.
