An arrest has been made in the attempted abduction of a 12-year-old girl in Cleveland.

A man was arrested on Silk Avenue in the First District Friday at 3 p.m. No word on the man’s identity at this time.

Wednesday at 7:40 a.m. on West 154th Street, the suspect followed the victim off of the RTA train. While walking south on West 154th Street, the suspect grabbed the victim and tried shoving her into shrubs.

“When I saw that he was still behind me I started to walk a little faster and when I crossed the street I heard his footsteps were heavier and faster,” said the victim.  “It looked like he was going to hit me he raised his hand, but I grabbed it with both of my hands and pushed him off of me.”

A passerby noticed the incident and the suspect fled the scene back towards the RTA station. The victim fled in the opposite direction.
