A group of industry executives got a tour and a favorable impression of the new Convention Center.

About a dozen members of the Ohio Society of Association Executives, who are holding their state conference in Cleveland, spent about one hour in the new Medical Mart and Convention Center.

They help their organizations make the decision as to where to hold meetings and conventions.

OSAE Executive Director Shane Yates was impressed by what he saw of the facility, still ahead of schedule and set to open on July 1, 2013.

“When this property is done, it will bring a lot of business to the Cleveland area,” Yates told WKYC

“A lot of the different groups across the United States, when they see it, they’re going to be as impressed as everyone on the tour today. It has a large opportunity to help Cleveland the economic impact here.”

The OSAE visit came on the heels of the announcement that the Medcial Mart and Convention Center had booked a major convention for 2014.

The Case Management Society of America will bring its annual conference and expo to the facility from June 17-20, 2014.

“The year-long recruitment process for CMSA involved a remarkable team effort from the entire community,” said Jim Bennett, senior vice president of MMPI, which will manage and operate the Medical Mart and Convention Center.

Those on the OSAE tour thought the facility and surrounding amenities were of the caliber needed to entice major conventions and trade shows to Cleveland.

“Whenever there is a meeting booked in any city, we look at all the different types of things that participants can do,” Yates explained
