AVON, OH (WOIO) –

More than five hours after a deadly accident, I-90 has re-opened.

A construction worker was struck and killed by an SUV on I-90 on Wednesday morning around 9:15 a.m. All lanes lanes westbound between State Route 83 and Crocker Road were closed until 2:30 p.m.

The accident happened on I-90 Westbound at the Lear Nagle Road overpass construction zone in Avon.

The worker was putting tarps in place to begin painting when he was struck.

He was transported by Avon EMS to the hospital, but did not survive his injuries. The worker has yet to be identified.

The driver of the SUV was not seriously injured.
