CLEVELAND – One of the superheroes from “The Avengers” will be descending upon Cleveland again.

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will film portions in Cleveland in 2013, The Greater Cleveland Film Commission announced Friday.

The film is set to be released in 2014, the sequel to the 2011 hit “Captain America: The First Avenger” starring Chris Evans.

The Greater Cleveland Film Commission said it was in talks with Marvel Studios for weeks, sharing information about Ohio’s physical assets and the benefits of filming here – including the recently expanded Ohio Motion Picture Tax Incentive.

“We proved with the filming of Marvel’s The Avengers that Cleveland has the talent, architecture and amazing locations that will provide filmmakers everything they need to ensure a successful filming experience, and the economic impact of this new project can’t be denied,” said Ivan Schwarz, executive director of the Greater Cleveland Film Commission.

Last summer, “The Avengers” took over parts of downtown Cleveland and northeast Ohio to film a number of scenes in the box office blockbuster.
