CLEVELAND – High winds closed schools, uprooted trees and knocked out power across northeast Ohio. Reports are pouring in to NewsChannel5 from across northeast Ohio

The City of Cleveland Department of Public Safety, Works and Utilities crews across northeast Ohio are working as much as possible to clear debris from homes and buildings, clear downed trees and power lines, and secure flooded areas in addition to responding to emergencies.

Latest reports of downed trees, wires, road closures and high water:

Cleveland: As of 3 p.m., the left two lanes are open on I-90 westbound between Eddy Road and East 55th Street.  The East 72nd Street entrance ramp to I-90 westbound will remain closed. Motorists will be able to enter and exit I-90 eastbound at Eddy Road, MLK and East 55th Street.

Valley View: A car is submerged near the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad.

Fairport Harbor: Pickle Bills in the Grand River floating barge is breaking loose.

Lorain County: High water covers State Route 303 and Quarry Road in Pittsfield. A home’s front yard on Merriam Road in the Wellington/Pittsfield area is under water.

North Royalton: The top of Christ Our Savior Church on State Road blew off the building.

Rocky River: Paul Kiska said their is extensive damage. Reports of tree on house. One tree fell just after 10 a.m. on a garage on Elmwood.

Bay Village: Tree across Wolf Road; Lake Rd closed at Bradley.

Avon Lake: Tree on wire.

Lakewood: Tree down at West 95th off Madison. Uprooted pine near 1596 Grace Ave.

Chippewa Lake, Medina: Roads closed, flooding and Lake is well over flood stage.

Lyndhurst: Viewer called and said that the Cherry Park apts on Acacia Park Drive in Lyndhurst have been evacuated after the roof blew off last night and there is now wind and water damage… no one hurt.

Mentor: Tree down on Stockbridge Road. Tree down on Bellflower Road. Rt. 84 closed at Forest Lane due to tree across road. Wires down and flooding in Mentor on Rt. 84 between Rt 306 and Rt 615.

Cleveland Heights: Tree took down power lines.

Eastlake: According to Eastlake Police, Chagrin River is ready to overflow at Lakeshore Blvd and Erie Road.

Wadsworth: All lanes 71 southbound are CLOSED in Medina County between I-76 & SR 83 due to an an overturned truck.

Strongsville: Total Traffic reports that Strongsville traffic lights not working. Caution on Rt 82 at US-42.

Downtown: The East 9th Street entrance ramp to Interstate 77 southbound is closed due to high water. Motorists can use Broadway Avenue to enter I-77 southbound.

Cleveland – Traffic is backed up on Cedar Hill. Motorists should expect a slow ride.

Martin Luther King Drive north of Amoleside Drive is closed.

The Great Lake Science Center closed Tuesday.

Cleveland, traffic lights are out at Lorain ave and W150th, Fairwood road and Lorian ave, and Alger road and South Marginal, High water in far right lane going both ways on bridge between Valley View Dr. and Riverside Dr (bridge that goes over the metroparks/valley), Tree down cover part of the road on Berea Rd just North of Lorian Avenue.

No power at the Gordon Square Arcade.

Cleveland Zoo is closed Tuesday because of flooding.

Bratenahl: Bratenahl Police say there are several trees that have fallen on top of homes in their city.

Euclid Police reporting serious electrical lines “arching and sparking”  at East 272nd and Oriel.

Cleveland Heights: North Park/Coventry closed in all directions due to high water. Lee Rd. closed between Cedar s/b to Meadowbrook.

Police report Shaker Lake overflow at Coventry and North Park causing closures.

Valley View: Canal, Murray and Fosdick roads are flooding in Valley View. Residents are moving vehicles to higher ground. Emergency access road to Heinton is open, Tracy Malkowski said.

Cleveland: Viewer Michelle Rose said a tree down in front of her house on Indiana Road. Liz Cucci said a tree is down in front of her house on West 127th Street.

Teony Avenue (Bosworth and 107th Area) Both sides of streets shutdown due to trees down. A

tree crushed a car.

Akron: Sand Run Parkway in Akron is closed between Portage Path and Sand Run Road.

Bedford: Broadway Ave (Route 14) in the Downtown Bedford between Columbus Road and E. Monroe is closed due to wires across the roadway. Semi-trucks should detour and by-pass the area by using Northfield Rd (Route 8). At this time we no ETA from CEI.

Blaine St, by UHHS Bedford Medical Center is closed at Center Rd due to tree and wires down across the roadway. At this time we no ETA from CEI

Palmetto road is closed at daisy due to a tree across the roadway.

Berea: The traffic light is not working at Eastland and East Bagley roads.

An apartment complex located at 101 S. Rocky River Drive has and electrical pole on top of it.

Brecksville: Significant flooding at Riverview and Vaughn Road.

Cleveland: 11 recreation centers are open for those who need shelter, or for

those without power. Burke Lakefront Airport has sustained damage and is being assessed. Currently, there is no air traffic.

North Royalton: Edgerton Road is closed because of fallen power lines. That’s between Bennett and Ridge roads.

North Olmsted: A large metal pole is blocking the left lane on I-480 eastbound. That’s before Stearns Road.

North Olmsted: Porter Road still closed between Martin Dr & Center Ridge Rd.

Streetsboro: Route 303 at bypass and between Jefferson and Stone roads Closed due to flooding.

LaGrange: SR 303, just west of SR 301 in the village of LaGrange is closed due to a fallen tree.

Elyria: Minor flooding along the 300 block of Furnace Street and at Spring Valley Country Club.

Elyria Municipal Court is closed today per Judge Gary Bennett.

Lake County: State Route 608 is closed in both directions at Winchell Road due to downed power lines.

Parma: Parma Municipal Court is Closed due to low power. Parma City Hall is Closed.

Rockside Road east of Broadview Road is closed, along with Regency Drive between Powers Blvd. and Ridgewood Drive

High water is creating an issue on Pearl Road at Virginia Avenue and the area should be avoided.

Power is out to many traffic signals and motorist should be reminded to treat these intersections as a four-way stop.

Brooklyn: Biddulph Road still closed between Roadoan and Ridge.

Police are reporting several homes with trees or telephone poles on top of them. Police were too busy to give specific locations.

Brookpark:  Sheldon Road still closed at Abrams Creek.

Willowick: Willowick police say Lakeshore Blvd. between E. 305 and Vine Street is closed. A pole is ready to fall. CEI en route.

Willoughby: Willoughby Police say the north end of Willoughby was hit very hard by high winds. According to their Facebook page: “Use caution when driving to work in the morning. Several trees are down and service is working on removing them off the roadways.

Daniels park, south side is flooded. Do not attempt to enter.

Westlake:  Hilliard still closed between Columbia and Clague.

Westlake, traffic lights are out at Columbia rd and Detroit Rd, All traffic lights getting off of I-90 at Columbia Rd (no power, street lights are not on Clague until Canberry Rd, no lights on I-90 from Columbia Rd exit to just before Clague Rd exit)

Geauga County: Sheriff said a basement filling with water at 9390 Brakeman. Wires down 9079 Ravenna Road.

Cuyahoga Community College’s West Shore Campus will be closed in Westlake Tuesday.

All essential staff are asked to report to campus.

All Cuyahoga County and Cleveland city buildings are open on Tuesday.
